Rt Hon Jim Murphy MP

Rt Hon Jim Murphy is the MP for East Renfrewshire.

Jim was first elected to Parliament in 1997, he served as a Government whip from 2002-5 and from 2005-2006 as Parliamentary Secretary at the Cabinet Office. From 2006-2007 he was Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform. In 2008, he became Minister for Europe and from there was appointed Secretary of State for Scotland under the Brown Government.

Born Glasgow 1967 Jim lived in South Africa as a teenager. He is now married with 3 children. His favourite TV shows are 24 and the West Wing, he enjoys playing football, running, hornby train sets and greyhounds.
