Annual General Meeting of the APPG Against Antisemitism

25 November 2010

The AGM of the APG was held in Committee Room 18 of the House of Commons and was attended by John Mann MP, Lords Janner, Haskell and Hunt of the Wirral. A number of apologies were received. The Chief Rabbi, Lord Sacks sent a message of appreciation and was welcomed by the chair to attend future meetings as a newly appointed peer and voting member.  The Chair, John Mann, gave an update on the successes of the past year – the London conference on Antisemitism, the Inter-Departmental Working Group, action in Europe, progress in combating internet based hate materials and future plans for delegations to Eastern Europe. The chair also paid tribute to cross-party and Parliamentary colleagues – in particular Tim Boswell MP, Ian Duncan-Smith MP and Baroness Ruth Deech for their tireless work for the Group. He noted that the cross-party nature of the efforts helped maintain influence. The outgoing Director of the Parliamentary Committee Against Antisemitism, Elliot Conway, was thanked and Danny Stone welcomed as his replacement. Lord Janner proposed the APPG officer list remain in place, Lord Haskell seconded and those present agreed. The meeting was then closed.
